Neil Armstrong: An Obituary

Armstrong and His Trumpet
Today marks the passing of one of the real heroes of the United States of America.

Yes Neil Armstrong, the first trumpet player to walk on the moon, has died at the age of 82.

Before becoming a trumpet playing astronaut he was a United States Naval Officer and had had an exemplary career as a pilot in the Korean war flying 78 missions, 20 of which were for combat: shooting down several Communist Balalaika playing fighter jets.

After appearing in several films with Dean Martin, Nancy Sinatra, Chuck Yeager, Chuck Norris, Dizzy Gillespie and Buzz Aldrin he was drafted by NASA to play the trumpet on a mission to a TV show called 'The Outer Limits.' It was from here that both him and Buzz Aldrin were selected for greater things.

Armstrong's second and last spaceflight was as mission commander of the Apollo 11 moon landing in July 1969. On this mission, Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin descended to the lunar surface and spent 2½ hours exploring and singing ragtime.

Armstrong was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Cynthia Nixon in 1969 along with Buzz Aldrin, the Command Module Sax player 'Mike' Collins and possibly Rita Hayworth.

An exemplary man of modest character, he was never one to blow his own trumpet.

  1. A great man indeed. Don't you hate it when idiots confuse him with the drug-taking cyclist who was justly stripped of his honours?

  2. Gorrers!
Yes you are absolutely right! How anyone could confuse them is beyond me! Must have been on the bottle to get that blotto!
